Courses and approval

Are the courses approved by the JBCC?

Not yet. Every course must be approved by the Judicial Branch Certification Commission before it is offered, and none will be sold until it is. Program numbers will appear here and on each course page once they're issued.

When will courses be available?

Each course opens once the Commission approves it. Join the waitlist and you'll get one email the day enrollment opens, or write to support@caprocklegaleducation.com and we'll tell you.

Does the orientation course make me a certified process server?

No. Completing an approved orientation course is one requirement for certification. You apply to the Commission directly for the certification itself, which also involves a criminal history check and the Commission's own fees.

Does the orientation course count toward renewal?

No. Orientation is for initial certification. Renewal requires approved continuing education, which is what the Renewal Certification and Ethics Only courses are for.

Which course do I need?

New servers take Initial Certification. Renewing servers take Renewal Certification, which covers the rules and all the ethics hours together. Ethics Only is for servers who have their other hours covered and need ethics on its own.

Taking the course

Is it really self-paced?

Yes. Start and stop whenever you like, on any device. Your progress saves, and you can finish over several sittings.

Why can't I skip ahead?

Approved courses are approved for a set number of hours, and providers are required to track actual participation time. Each page has a minimum time and you'll always see the countdown. If you step away or switch tabs, the timer pauses, so nothing is wasted.

How long does each course take?

Initial Certification is 7 hours, Renewal Certification is 8 hours including 3 ethics hours, and Ethics Only is 2 hours. Those are the hours the courses are approved for, and the time the platform requires.

What if I fail a quiz?

Retake it. Retakes are unlimited and included. Questions are drawn fresh from a larger bank and the answers are ordered differently each time, so a retake is a different quiz rather than the same one again. Passing is 70%.

Is there a final exam?

Yes, at the end, drawn from every session. The exam is assessment rather than instruction, so its time is not counted toward the approved hours — the sessions carry those in full. Pass it and your certificate is issued straight away.

Do I need anything besides a computer?

No. A phone or tablet works, though the flowcharts and model documents are easier to read on a larger screen.

Certificates and records

When do I get my certificate?

The moment you pass the final exam. It carries your name and certification number, the course, the hours, the completion date, the JBCC program number, and a certificate number anyone can verify. A second sheet lists every session you completed and its hours, which is what the Commission's rules ask a provider to record.

How does certificate verification work?

Every certificate has a number. Anyone — you, an employer, a court, the Commission — can enter it on our verify page and see the course, hours, and completion date.

How long should I keep my certificate?

Keep continuing education documentation for at least three years. Your certificate also stays in your account, and you can download it again any time.

Why do you need a photo ID?

Because the Judicial Branch Certification Commission asks approved online providers to confirm that the person who signs up is the person who takes the course. It is what lets an online certificate stand as a record rather than a claim. After you buy and before the course opens, you photograph a government ID and take a selfie, which is matched against it — about a minute, easiest on a phone. You do it once; come back in two years for a renewal and you won't be asked again.

What name goes on my certificate?

The name on your ID. The Commission asks applicants to use their full legal name exactly as it appears on government identification, so that is the name we print — even if it differs from what you typed when you signed up. We show you the name before anything is issued.

What if I don't want to verify my identity?

Nothing has been used at that point, so we refund the course in full. Write to support@caprocklegaleducation.com. It's worth knowing before you buy, which is why the requirement is on every course page.

Do you keep a copy of my ID?

No. The check is run by Stripe, who handle the images directly. We receive the outcome and the verified name — never the photographs, and never the document number.

Payment and access

How long do I have access?

Access never expires. Take as long as you need, and come back afterward to review the lessons, flowcharts, and model documents whenever you like.

Can I get a refund?

Full refund any time before you open course content — including if you decide against the identity check, which happens before the course opens. Duplicate purchases are always refunded. Once you've opened a module the purchase is final, because the material is delivered immediately. Technical problems on our end are fixed or refunded, whichever you prefer.

Does reviewing a course again earn new hours?

No. Reviewing is free and unlimited, and it doesn't earn new continuing education hours. For your next renewal you'll take a renewal course again and receive a new certificate.
